Dawn Marie (Shanholt) Underwood

Dawn Marie (Shanholt) Underwood, age 48 of Elkhart, passed away at her home on Sept. 18, 2018.  Dawn was born Sept. 28, 1969 in Elkhart and attended Jimtown High School.  On March 28, 1998, she married Robert Underwood in Elkhart.  They recently celebrated 20 years of marriage.

            Surviving is her husband Robert of Elkhart, and their children Anthony C. “T.J.” (Amber) Edwards of Elkhart, Audreyanna (Caleb) Smith, and Danielle C. Underwood, both of Warsaw and 12 grandchildren; Hayden, Logan, Cameron, Ian, Josiah, Matthew, Sophia, Luke, Lincoln, Conner, Holly & Ezra.  Surviving as well are her parents Daniel E. (Janice) Shanholt of Elkhart, Jan (Donna) Cohen of Saugatuck, MI, and her sisters Julie C. Jehnsen and Angela L. Siebert, both of Elkhart.  Dawn is also survived by her step brother Robert Fugate and step sister Christine Miller.

            Visitation will be held from 12-4 pm Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018 at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola, with funeral services to follow at 4pm.  Interment will be private in Osceola Cemetery on Monday, Sept. 24.

            Dawn was a homemaker who was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother to her family.  Her grandchildren were her greatest joy in life, and she loved to spend time with them.  In her spare time, Dawn enjoyed drawing, cooking and writing short stories and poems.  Her selflessness, generosity, and caring nature toward others will be greatly missed.
