Hugh L. Taylor, age 78 of Elkhart, passed away at Cameron Memorial Community Hospital in Angola on June 24, 2018. Hugh was born August 1, 1939 in Elkhart to the late Charles and Bessie (Eash) Taylor.
Surviving are his sons H. Charles (Jodi) Taylor of Elkhart, and Darin Michael (Maria) Taylor of Bremerton, Washington. Surviving as well are his grandchildren; Lucianna Grace Taylor, River Myles Taylor, and Lyndsey Taylor Clark. Also surviving are his siblings Edna Moore and Jake Stephic. He was preceded in death by his siblings Jack, Frank, Mary Alice, and Charles “Buster” Taylor.
Memorial visitation will be held from 1-3 pm Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola with a Celebration of Hugh’s life and a Masonic Service to follow at 3pm. Interment will be private at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Hugh was involved with his son’s activities throughout their lives, serving as a Scout Master and Little League Coach. In his younger years, Hugh umpired men’s fast pitch softball in the Mishawaka leagues. He twice served as the Master of Tyrian Lodge #718 in Elkhart and volunteered his time as a member of the South Bend Valley of the Scottish Rite and the Mizpah Shrine of Fort Wayne.
