James Robert “Jim” Rzeszewski, age 82, passed away at his home in Osceola on Sunday, December 23, 2018 surrounded by his family.  Jim was born February 23, 1936 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Edward and Sophie (Chmielewski) Rzeszewski.  Jim enlisted in the US Navy in February of 1956 and was honorably discharged in March of 1962. He later served over 22 years as a Police Officer with the South Bend Police Department, retiring in the early 1980’s.   On June 9, 2007 Jim married Patricia (McDougal) Teeter in South Bend.

Pat survives, along with Jim’s children Suzanne Rzeszewski of Mishawaka and Scott Rzeszewski of South Bend.  Also surviving is his brother Paul (Billie) Rzeszewski of South Bend, a granddaughter Heather (Doug) Hooley, and 2 great grandsons, James and Robert.  Jim is also survived by his stepsons Tommy D. Jim was a devout Catholic who attended Mass at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Mishawaka.  In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling with his wife Pat, boating, watching westerns, and doing carpentry work.

Jim was very social, and enjoyed spending time at the Elks Lodge #235, the Moose Lodge, the FOP and the American Legion, but most of all, Jim will be remembered for his uncanny ability to tell stories to keep his family laughing and entertained.
