Judith Ellen (Rhodes) Holdren

Judith Ellen Holdren, age 78 of Mishawaka, passed away Friday, February 22, 2019 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.   Judi was born July 10, 1940 in Osceola, Indiana to the late Edward and Jeanette (Boatman) Rhodes.  Judi attended Mishawaka High School, and married Archie Holdren on September 21, 1957.  They recently celebrated 61 years of marriage.

            Archie survives, along with their children Dennis Holdren and his wife Jacquie of South Bend, Lianna Workman, and Lisa Robertson, both of Mishawaka.  Surviving as well are seven grandchildren and ten great- grandchildren.  Though Judi was born an only child, she was extremely close to her many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

            Visitation will be held from 2-5 pm Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola.  Pastor Leroy Wise will officiate the 11:00 am funeral service at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola on Monday, February 25, 2019 with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.

            Judi was employed by the School City of Mishawaka at Hums School for many years, and later as a Florist at Kroger’s where she specialized in wedding flowers for many brides and grooms.  She retired from Kroger in the year 2000 after 18 years of service.

She attended the Osceola United Methodist Church for many years where she served as a greeter and was involved in the creation and distribution of food baskets for the needy.  She loved to travel with her husband Archie and spend time with her family at their cottage on Harwood Lake in Three Rivers, Michigan.  Judi also enjoyed visiting the Casinos where she would indulge in their hearty buffets! 

            Most of all, Judi loved spending time with her grandchildren.  She was an avid photographer and carried her camera with here everywhere, earning the nickname “Grandma Flash.”
