Sandra Ruth Glasgow, age 85 of Elkhart, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at Elkhart General Hospital.  Sandy was born June 2, 1932 in Goshen, Indiana to the late Edward and Eleanor (Pratt) Storms.  On May 24, 1952, she married Ernest C. Glasgow in the rectory at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church in Elkhart. Ernie preceded her in death, passing away in May of 1980.

Surviving are her children Cindy (Kim) Skatvold of Elkhart, Cathy (Bill) Alert of Cassopolis, Michigan, Patti Richmond of Lansing, Michigan and Sue (Brent) Raifsnider of Elkhart.  Also surviving are her sisters Judy (Bill) Sanders of White Pigeon, Michigan and Pam Prosser of Michigan City, Indiana.  Surviving as well are ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

There will be a private graveside ceremony Friday, December 22, 2017 at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Goshen.  Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting with arrangements.

Sandy was employed as a retail sales manager at Robertson’s Department Store from 1973-1986, and later worked in the trust department at J.T. Morgan Chase Bank in Elkhart until her retirement in 1996.  She was a longtime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Chapter 2536 of Michigan City, and the 95th Infantry Division Association, where she continued to attend reunions for many years after Ernie’s passing.

Sandy also had an adventurous soul, and was always known to be social and outgoing.  On her 79th birthday, she went skydiving.  On her 80th birthday, she flew in the nose cone of a B-52 Bomber and for her 81st birthday, Sandy took a victory ride in an open bi-plane crop duster.  She also enjoyed driving, visiting amusement parks to ride rollercoasters, traveling throughout the US and abroad, reading, watching game shows and doing crossword puzzles.

She also served as a volunteer for Harbor Light Hospice and as a bell ringer at the holidays for the Salvation Army.

Sandy found her greatest pleasure in spending time with her family.  She shared a very special bond with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Harbor Light Hospice or the Salvation Army.  To light a virtual candle or leave condolences for Sandy’s family, please follow the links provided.
