Sharon Darlene (Semak) Charles

Sharon Darlene Charles, age 61 of Mishawaka, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 22, 2018.  Sharon was born December 24, 1956 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Albert and Genevieve (Kotal) Semak.  On June 30, 1973, she married the love of her life, George Dale Charles in South Bend, Indiana.  They recently celebrated 45 years of marriage.

            Her husband George Charles Sr. survives, along with their son George (Lorie) Charles Jr. of South Bend. Also surviving are her grandchildren Cory, Keely and Addison Charles.  Sharon is survived as well by her brothers Albert (Kandra) Semak of Kentucky and Alan Semak of Mishawaka.  She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Stacy Charles and her brother Larry Semak.

            Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola.  There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 11:00 am funeral service on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola and interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Pastor David Sjoberg of the St. Mark Missionary Church will officiate the services.

            Sharon worked at the Dainty Maid bakery in the University Park Mall and later at Sears.  She also spent several years working at the Jimtown High School cafeteria where she was affectionately known by the students as the “Salad Bar Lady.”  Sharon loved spending time with the kids and would post a weekly inspirational quote for them at the salad bar.

            In her spare time, Sharon loved to do crafts such as floral arrangements and broken glass mosaics that she would sell at local craft shows, and she and her husband attended St. Mark Missionary Church in Mishawaka.   

Most of all, Sharon loved the Lord and her family.  She was a dedicated wife and mother who put the needs of others first.  She selflessly helped countless others in their time of need without expecting anything in return.
