Archie M. Holdren, 84, of Mishawaka passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Mishawaka on May 2, 1939, to the late Oscar and Velatta (Ousterhout) Holdren and later married Judi Rhodes, who preceded him in death in 2019.
Surviving are his three children, Dennis (Jacquie) Holdren of South Bend, Lianna (Jose Madera) Workman, and Lisa Robertson, both of Mishawaka. Archie also leaves behind seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a brother Tom Holdren of Mishawaka. He was preceded in death by three brothers, and a sister.
Archie led a life filled with adventure and passion. He loved traveling with his entire family to explore different fishing spots. Alongside his devoted wife, Judi, Archie crafted memories while humoring his love for woodworking and building crafts. Together, they shared a bond strengthened by creativity and companionship. Beyond his workshop, Archie found joy in collecting vintage toys, particularly his cherished Hot Wheels collection, and had an avid enthusiasm for sports as he cheered for his favorite teams, including the Blackhawks, Cubs, Bears, and Notre Dame Girls Basketball. Archie will be remembered for his kind heart, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His legacy lives on through the memories he created and the lives he touched.
A gathering to honor Archie's life and share cherished memories with family and friends is set for Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 5 to 7 pm at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola. Later, a graveside service will take place on Friday, February 23rd. The procession will depart from the funeral home at 10 am, making its way to Archie's final resting place at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and to honor Archie’s life, memorial contributions may be sent to Center for Hospice or St. Joseph County Humane Society.
