Beverly Joan Hummer, age 92, passed away at her home in Osceola on Monday, April 6, 2026, with her family at her side. She was born on June 17, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Charles and Jean (Majerus) Fastabend and later graduated from Mishawaka High School with the Class of 1951. On September 11, 1955, she married Jack Hummer, and together they shared more than 60 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories.

Beverly is survived by her children, Steve Hummer and his wife Kathy of Osceola, Julie DeBroka and her husband Chuck of Mishawaka, Jan Hummer and her wife Diane Rhone of Osceola, and Patrick Hummer and his wife Heather of Osceola. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her parents, her sister Shirley Szlanfucht, and a grandchild.

Beverly spent several years working in shipping and receiving at Prickett’s Supermarket, later Martin’s Supermarket in Mishawaka. Outside of work, she enjoyed taking vacations and experiencing life, especially on trips to Florida and Las Vegas. She liked visiting casinos, playing bingo, and always looked forward to time spent reading or being with her family.

She also had a creative side and was known for the wooden crafts she made and sold at local festivals throughout the Michiana area, including OC Days, Queen of Peace, and the Apple Festival. She loved both cats and dogs, and had a special place in her heart for her dog, Lizzy.

Beverly will be remembered as a loving mother and someone who cared deeply for those around her. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Center for Hospice, especially Nurse Sara, for the care and support given during Beverly’s final months.

Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the 6:00 p.m. funeral service on Friday, April 10, 2026 at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola. A private graveside service will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at a later date.
