Billie Makin

Billie L. Makin, 67, of South Bend bravely fought and passed peacefully at her home on Saturday, September 12, 2026, with family by her side. She was born on March 20, 1959, in Uniontown, PA to the late William Baer and Roselma (Wyland) Cramer, and married Robert D. Makin, Sr. who also preceded her in death.

Surviving are her two sons, Michael (Destiny) Makin, of Dayton, OH and Robert Makin, Jr., of South Bend; her five grandchildren, Charity, Melody, Robert III, Benjamin, Remi, three great-grandchildren, Mariah, Jordyn, and Olivia, and siblings, Kathleen Guthrie of Akron, OH, and David (Janis) Baer of Crucible, PA also survive.

Billie served at Trinity Lutheran Church as a member of the cleaning team, taking pride in keeping the church building and grounds beautiful and was a founding member of the Still Cruisin' car club. Outside of work, though, her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, reading a good book, cooking and baking, especially her famous “Gob” cakes, and playing games with those she loved. Billie found joy in the simple moments spent with family and friends, and those who knew and loved her will miss her dearly.

A time to visit with family and friends is scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 5-7pm, at Cruz Family Funeral Home, Osceola. Pastor Drake from Forest Brook Missionary Church will officiate. A private family graveside service will follow on Friday, September 18, where she will be laid to rest next to Robert, Sr.
