Carleene Slough

Carleene A. Slough, 94, of Elkhart bravely fought until her passing on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. She was born in Elkhart on August 7, 1932, to the late Carl A. and Rachel M. (Rowe) Rees and later married Bernard Slough on March 24, 1950.

Surviving are her children, Sandra “Sandy” (Rick) Rhoades of Goshen, and Ken (Susan) Slough of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren, and another 10 great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, and husband, Carleene was preceded in death by all five siblings.

Carleene retired after nearly 30 years at Selmer Manufacturing and took pride in what she did. Outside of work, Carleene loved making her house a warm and welcoming place for family and friends. She enjoyed reading, working on word searches and crossword puzzles, and the simple things that created lasting memories. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Carleene will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, and in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Destiny’s Child.
