Carol Ann Niles

Carol A. Niles, 88, of Elkhart entered heavenly rest on Monday, Sept. 7, 2026, with family by her side. She was born in South Bend to the late Sid Springman and Genevieve (Brown) Finn on December 27, 1937, and later married Jay Niles, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children, Brenda Garner of Elkhart, Peggy (Charlie) Patterson of Leesburg, FL, Richard (Robin) Harmon of Orange, TX, Louann (Troy) Ross, Sueann Jenkins, and Ronnie (Robert) Shockley, all of Elkhart, and Ronald Harjers of Clarkston, MI. Along with her children, she leaves behind a sister, Roxanne (Terry) Wilkeson of Daytona, FL, and nearly 6 generations of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Carol was a selfless and loving homemaker whose faith and family were the center of her life. She found joy in life's simple moments, whether it was making sometimes daily trips to the Potawatomi Zoo, watching the Quenton Show at the Elkhart Farmers Market, or trying her luck at the casino or a game of Bingo. She loved relaxing with a cup of coffee while watching Hallmark movies or her favorite, Bibi the Monkey. Summer brought some of her happiest memories, spending time with family at Stone Lake, camping at Eby Pines, and never passing up a sweet treat from The Twirl Ice Cream. More than anything, Carol's greatest happiness came from being surrounded by the people she loved, leaving behind countless memories that her family will cherish for years to come.

Cremation has taken place with a service to honor her life at Elkhart County Community Baptist Church on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 10 am, with a meal to follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the church or Center for Hospice Care.
