Don Ray Herndon, age 62, of Clayton, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on March 17, 2026. Don was born December 4, 1963, in Portland, Oregon, to the late Lester and Beulah Earline (Vaughn) Herndon. He earned his associate degree from Mount Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon, and spent many years working as a plant manager in the dairy industry, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. On July 16, 2016, he married Gloria Esperanza, and together they shared a life filled with love, faith, and laughter.

A devoted Christian, Don grew deeply in his faith over the past decade and was a faithful member of Salem Church of God in Clayton, where he loved both his church and its people. He was open about his journey to sobriety, often sharing his story in hopes of encouraging others. Outside of his faith and family, Don found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle with Gloria, taking long road trips across the country, and spending time outdoors camping, fishing, boating, and hunting with those he loved. A passionate sports fan, he remained loyal to his favorite teams- the Oregon Ducks, Portland Trail Blazers, and his beloved Raiders. He even donned spiked gear to join fellow fans in the “Black Hole” in Oakland back in the day. He enjoyed talking sports with his family and friends but especially loved cheering his grandson on in his sporting events over the years.

At home, he enjoyed cooking, especially his signature fried bologna and jelly sandwiches, a nod to his family’s Arkansas roots, and he had a special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Mika. Don will be remembered for his infectious laugh that could fill a room and for the way he provided for and cared for his family.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Gloria; his children and their spouses, Kenneth “Kenny” and Shannon Herndon, Taylor and Jordan Bradley; his stepchildren and their spouses, Jhoel Bolivar and Jennifer White, Dina and Ben Turner, and Juan Bolivar; his grandchildren, Maddox Herndon and Olivia Bradley; and his sister, Linda Herndon, and brother and his wife, Ray and Pamm Herndon. He was preceded in death by his sister, Olivia Priest. Don had a special place in his heart for the people of Guatemala and faithfully supported missionaries through both prayer and financial giving at Salem Church of God. In his memory, contributions may be made to the church at 6500 Southway Rd #1, Clayton, OH 45315.
