Frances Arlene Shreve, age 83, passed away at her home in Osceola on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Frances was born September 19, 1942, in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late Tobias E. and Thelma (Clipp) Miller. She was a graduate of the first class at Penn High School in 1960. On June 14, 1961, she married Leon Shreve and together they shared over 45 years of love and laughter before his passing in 2006.

Frances is survived by her sons Greg Shreve and his wife Elaine, and Dennis Shreve. Surviving as well are her grandchildren; Renee Raley and her husband David, Bryton Shreve and his wife Emily, Austin Shreve, Adreinne O’Conner and her husband Wesley, and Meghan Mammolenti, along with 13 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings Marcella Claeys, Lynn Mason, John “Butch” Grafton, Von Grafton and Arch Grafton. She was preceded in death by her sister Candy Gerrard and her brother Ward Grafton.

A celebration of Frances’ life will be held at a later date. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with her care.

Frances held several jobs throughout her life. She worked as a teller for Valley American Bank, as a cashier for Kroger, a waitress at the Lucky Steer Restaurant, Coachmen Industries, and later retired from TJ Snuggles at the age of 68. When she and Leon started a family, Frances took on the most important role in her career as a homemaker, caring for her sons.

In her spare time, she loved to fish, feed and watch the birds at her bird feeder, quilt and crochet blankets for her grandchildren, and bowling in leagues for many years with her sisters at Chippewa Lanes. Many nights, Frances could be found at the racetrack, supporting and cheering on her son who was racing at the events. She loved NASCAR and followed the careers of Kyle Larson and Ryan Newman. She also enjoyed playing cards and spent many Saturday nights playing in Euchre tournaments in the town of Wyatt.

Frances was also an excellent cook and enjoyed baking Christmas candies and cookies for her friends and family. Her specialty was her peanut butter cookies, sugar cookies and chocolate buckeyes.
