Frances Ann Vance, age 99 of Osceola, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 while at home, surrounded by her family. Frances was born April 19, 1927, in Nora, Virginia to the late Bert and Eliza (Rasnick) Lee. She was one of eleven children raised in the Lee household. She supported our troops during WWII while making transistors at General Electric in Bridgeport, Connecticut. On August 6, 1944, she married Oliver Vance in Grundy, Virginia and he preceded her in death in 2002.
She is survived by her daughters Connie McCaskill, Catherine Hughes and her husband Bob, and Bertie Cora, along with 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 19 great-great grandchildren. Surviving as well is her sister, Gay Deel. She was preceded in death by her children Kathleen, Susan, Cody, Randell and an unborn son, Brody, along with her grandson Mark and granddaughter Kelly.
Alongside her husband, Frances was the co-owner of Vance Campers and ROC Wood Products during the 1970s and 1980s.
More than anything, Frances was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who never missed an opportunity to care for those she loved. Her home was always open, and she had a special place in her heart for children.
Frances' faith in the Lord guided her throughout her life. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her garden, canning fresh vegetables to share with family and friends. She was also an avid doll collector and lovingly referred to her collection as her "babies."
Visitatation will be held one hour prior to the 1:00pm funeral service on Monday, July 27, 2026 at the Osceola United Methodist Church. Following her funeral, she will be laid to rest beside her husband Oliver in East Union Cemetery, Union, Michigan. Cruz Family Funeral Home of Osceola has been entrusted with her care.
