Georgia Ann Hilfman passed at 92 years of age on February 9th from multiple complications that were presented as time went on. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Gus and Marie Foontas on September 19, 1931. While she was an only child she was loved dearly by her mother and father. Weekend trips to the movies with her father were among her favorite memories growing up.
Having graduated from Roosevelt High School in Chicago, she took great pride in her payroll career with Shell Oil, Brunswick, and Castle Metals where she met lifelong friends that she truly treasured. She was thankful for and enjoyed her final job in her seventies as a receptionist for Dr. Morse in Park Ridge, Illinois.
Throughout her life she enjoyed bowling, poker, travel, and a trip to the nearest casino with family and friends. She often spoke of a cruise that included a visit to Greece. This stop was a favorite because of her love of this side of her family. Weekly phone calls from her family on the East Coast and Florida were a highlight and so very important to her.
She is survived by her daughter Paulette (Jim) Norman of Park Ridge, Illinois, her son Thomas (Martha) Hilfman of Granger, Indiana and five grandsons; Tyler (Kathryn) Norman of Des Plaines, Illinois; Nicholas (Elizabeth) Norman of Park Ridge, Illinois; Corey (Abigail) Norman of Noblesville, Indiana; Cole (Brittney) Hilfman of Cassopolis, Michigan; and Kyle (Kaley) Hilfman of Carmel, Indiana. Surviving as well are twelve great grandchildren; Zachary, Frank, Thomas, and Addison Norman; Ella and Henry Norman; Calla, Heston, and Haven Hilfman; Bennett, Hudson, and Hayes Hilfman. A favorite activity with her grandchildren included lunch and a movie. Her daughter, Christine Marie LeBeau preceded her in death on August 11, 2008.
In 2015 she moved from Des Plaines, Illinois to Granger, Indiana where Tom and Martha have lived for 30+ years. A slower pace of living suited her during this time of her life. She would frequently mention how she missed "the restaurants" Chicago offered, especially the Greek restaurants. After living in an apartment, she found her final home at Hellenic Senior Living where she met an amazing new set of friends.
While we will miss Georgia here on earth, we are thankful she is at peace. At Georgia's request we will have a private family celebration full of memories and fellowship. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with her care.
