James A. Calhoun, 66, of Elkhart passed unexpectedly at on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. He was born in Kalamazoo, MI on Nov. 19, 1959, to the late Jack Calhoun and Pat (Roberts) Watts. He later married Marilyn Wilson, who survives.

Along with Marilyn, James is survived by their children, Tim Calhoun of Goshen, Taylor Calhoun of Oklahoma, Christina Burnham and Justin Driskell, both of Elkhart and eight grandchildren. James’ siblings, Debbie Damron of Goshen, Marge Grandberry, and Bobby Calhoun of Arkansas also survive.

James spent many years working as a skilled maintenance technician before retiring. When he wasn’t working, he made the most of his time with family and enjoyed traveling throughout the Midwest on weekends to catch classic rock concerts. Mötley Crüe, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and plenty of other bands were among his favorites. A lover of the outdoors, James was happiest outside, as long as there wasn’t snow on the ground! His sense of humor was part of who he was, bringing laughter and personality to the moments he shared with others. James leaves behind a lasting impression on the hearts of those who knew and loved him, and he will be deeply missed.
