Joel Neary

Joel Christian Neary, 54, of Elkhart, unexpectedly passed at his home on Thursday, November 13, 2025. He was born in La Porte on March 22, 1971, to the late Timothy Neary and Sylvia Thode.

His mother, Sylvia survives, along with Joel’s two sons, Joel II (Anna) and Timothy Neary, both of La Porte, a grandson, Judah and his sister, Jennifer Neary-Kluska and brother, Thomas Drnek II. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by a brother John, and sister Julie Owen.

Joel loved his loyal dogs, Bandit and Zoey, who were his constant companions. He was a dedicated Chicago Cubs fan who rarely missed a game, and he found real joy spending weekends racing his Camaro at the Osceola Dragway. Racing wasn’t just a pastime, but more of a community where he built lasting friendships and spoke highly of everyone he met. A hardworking and self-taught craftsman, Joel developed the skills that eventually led him to start his own remodeling company, something he took great pride in, and wasn’t afraid to take on new challenges, enjoyed friendly competition. Joel’s willingness to show up, try new things, and support those around him said much about who he was, and he will be greatly missed.
