On September 29, 2021, Judith “Judy” Davenport was called home to her Lord and Savior in Heaven. She peacefully passed surrounded by love and adoration from her four children. Charlene (Steve) Bradburn, Machelle (Randy Bowen) Davenport, David (Samantha Pratt) Davenport and Brian (Jennifer) Davenport. The cause of death is not what she will be remembered for. But how she lived her life will forever be her legacy.
Judy worked her entire life for helping those around her. She worked tirelessly day and night to make sure everyone around had what they needed. From her days at South Bend Memorial Hospital to Memorial Home Care and even into retirement. She always made it a point to stay in contact with everyone she could. Whether it was either patients or family members of patients, neighbors (the neighbors that didn’t run away from the four loud children), people from the church or anyone else that touched her life. She can be remembered saying “Oh I need to call so and so and see how they’re doing.”
Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00pm Sunday October 10, 2021, at Cruz Family Funeral Home, Osceola. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the noon funeral service on Monday October 11, 2021, at Cruz Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
Judy was loved by anyone she encountered. Her big heart and dedication to serving other people shined through in everything she did. But the love she showed her grandchildren and great grandchildren can be seen all over and in many ways. Even when her beloved Norte Dame football team wasn’t playing so well or her favorite NASCAR driver Ryan Newman wasn’t winning, her love and passion for both could be felt by all around her.
As we mourn the passing of this beautiful soul, please join us in celebrating her wonderful life and legacy. We all have a guardian angel looking down and guiding us along the way. As she would say “Don’t make a fuss over me.” But we can, and will, celebrate her amazing life.
