Margit “Marge” J. Wiseman, 90, of South Bend, bravely fought until her passing on Monday, June 29, 2026. She was born on March 11, 1936, in South Bend to the late, Joseph S. Miko Sr. and Elizabeth J. (Vamos) Miko.
Surviving are her children, Thomas E. Wiseman (Denise), Karla Wiseman Bronicki (Michael), Dennis R. Wiseman, John S. Wiseman (Denise Sullivan), grandchildren H. Kristen Bronicki (Brian Greene), Angela Bronicki Liversedge (Pearce), Miranda Bronicki Dopp (Anthony), David M. Bronicki (Katherine Yats Bronicki), Joel Wiseman (Olivia), Lauryn Wiseman Kutis (Gregory), Molly Sanford (Joey Daniluk), Cory Wiseman (Rebecca), Tyler Bullock (Tiffany), Kyle Bullock, Garrett Ward, Paige Ward-Hauser (Evan), many great-grandchildren, and siblings, Mary Davis (Ron), K. John Miko, and Frank Miko (Nancy).
Along with her parents, she was proceeded in death by her brothers Joseph S. Miko Jr. and Emery Miko, and sister Elizabeth P Modesto.
A graduate of Green Township School in 1954, Marge served her community as a payroll clerk for many years, but more importantly loved spending time with her family. Her family shares that:
When we think of “Mom” we remember how she loved music and dancing. She would share her childhood memories of dancing while her father played his accordion. She made hard days lighter with a trip to the lake to swim away our worries, or stopping at the root beer stand to enjoy a meal and music together. She navigated the challenges of single motherhood with strength, a smile, and a song. She was our hero, our confidant, and our cheerleader. Her work ethic was matched only by her dedication to her family.
She taught us tolerance, and that the most important things in life are kindness, acceptance and the simple sacred act of taking the time to talk and listen to better understand one another.
The poem she shared with us touches our hearts and reminds us that she still lives within our souls.
Do Not Stand at My Grave And Weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there; I did not die.
-Mary Elizabeth Frye
