Marilyn Hardee, 66, of Osceola, formerly of Argos, IN, passed away on June 18, 2026, at home with family by her side after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Mishawaka, on March 29, 1960, to the late Donald and JoAnn (Mazurkiewicz) Ransberger and grew up in the area.
Creativity was woven throughout Marilyn’s life. For many years, her artistic talents brightened the Argos Public Library through the window displays and decorations she created. She also found joy in music, playing the violin, guitar, and mandolin. Though private by nature, Marilyn shared her gifts generously, touching the lives of many through both her creativity and her quiet kindness.
Above all, Marilyn was a woman of deep and abiding faith. Her relationship with God guided her throughout her life and sustained her through the challenges she faced. Even during her illness, her faith remained a source of strength, comfort, and hope.
Marilyn spent the last several years in Tucson, Arizona, having previously lived there in her 20s. It was a place she deeply loved and chose for herself, where she found joy in the mountains, hiking, and freedom of being close to nature. Arizona held a special place in her heart.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Rachel (Brandon) Shafer of Argos, Tyler Hardee of South Bend, and Levi (Marissa See) Hardee of Argos; her beloved grandchildren, Luke, Haley, and Ava Shafer; and her siblings, Chris Allen, Denny Ransberger, Jenny Waugh, and Donald Ransberger Jr. She is also survived by Kevin Hardee, her former husband and friend, who remained present and supportive throughout her illness.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lindsay Fisher; her brother, Scott Ransberger; and her parents.
Those closest to Marilyn will remember the way she made people feel. Her children knew they could come to her with anything. Her grandchildren loved spending time with her, creating memories filled with laughter, creativity, and unconditional love. She had a remarkable ability to accept people as they were and make them feel at ease in her presence. Her children and grandchildren knew they were loved exactly as they were, and that gift will remain with them always.
A private family gathering and interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date.
