Michael “Mike” K. Anderson, 74, of Elkhart, unexpectedly passed on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at his home. He was born on August 29, 1952, in Idaho Falls, ID to the late Blair and Afton (Bayliff) Anderson and later married Debora “Debbie” Barlow while dancing.
Debbie survives along with her children, Heather (Aaron) Holland of Middlebury, Brittany (Tony) Patterson of Mishawaka, and Aubrey (Dean) Martinez, of Brooklyn, NY. Their grandchildren, Reese Holland, Felix, Eva, and Milo Martinez, and Mike’s siblings, Karen (Allen) Randall, and Gayle (Arlene) Anderson, both of Kaysville, UT also survive.
Mike was a creative-minded person who loved bringing ideas to life. He worked as a project manager and designer, creating housing and building layouts, and he carried that same creativity into the things he enjoyed at home. He loved to paint and dance, teaching others along the way. He enjoyed gardening and taking on home projects, earning himself the affectionate nickname of the “HGTV guy.” Mike was a fan of NASCAR, Notre Dame football, and just about every Olympic event he could watch. He loved to travel and, most of all, enjoyed making memories with the people closest to him, especially in Saugatuck, Michigan. Mike’s creativity and love for the people around him will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place with no formal services at this time. Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, November 1, 2026, from 2 to 6 pm at De Amici’s Club in Mishawaka for a time to celebrate Mike’s life together and share stories, memories, and, in true Mike fashion, spend some time dancing together.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Marshall County Neighborhood Center's Dancing with the Stars Benefit. To light a virtual candle, share a story of Mike, or extend a message of comfort to his family, please visit the Guestbook.
