Michele Demaegd

Michele (Cornelis) DeMaegd, 62, of Osceola, entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at home with family by her side. She was born on Jan. 7, 1963, in LaPorte to Ronald and Sherry (Moore) Cornelis, and later married Derek DeMaegd.

Derek survives along with their children, Trisha (Erin) Stopczynski, and Cassie (Jon) Jelinski, both of Granger, Kristina (Daniel) Stacker, Osceola, and Dakota DeMaegd of Ft. Wayne. Michele leaves behind her siblings, Tammy (Chris) Ewald, FL, and Ron (Tanyia), Jr. and Robin Griffin, both of South Bend as well, and 8 grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Michele found joy in the simple pleasures of life and devoted most of her years to being a homemaker. She met Derek while line dancing — a pastime she adored — and cherished spending time by the pool, hosting barbecues, and creating lasting memories with family and friends. Whenever the sun was shining, especially during the warm days of summer and the crisp afternoons of fall, Michele could always be found outdoors, soaking up the beauty of nature.

In accordance with the families wishes, cremation has taken place with a celebration of life to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Joseph County Humane Society in honor of Michele.
