Paul John Saksa, age 92 of Granger, formally of Whiting Indiana, passed away on February 4, 2026. Paul was born February 24, 1933, in East Chicago to the late Michael and Barbara (Rekney) Saksa.
On February 18, 2013, he married Isabella Reinks in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. They celebrated over 13 years of love, laughter and marriage.
Isabella survives, along with his daughters Kim (Randal) Vaught and Kris (Chuck Miner) Saksa and his 2 grandchildren Kelly (Nikki) Maaskant and Derek Vaught and 1 Great Granddaughter Lily Maaskant. Stepchildren Jeff Rienks (Kim Thoa) and Scott (Tara) Rienks. Surviving as well are 3 step grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that loved him very much. He was the second youngest of 8 children all have passed on .
In keeping with Paul’s requests, there will be no services. Cruz Family Funeral Home of Osceola has been entrusted with his care.
He coached Men’s high school basketball then when the grandkids came, he started to coach softball. coaching was just a natural talent he had. He loved sports and the kids. Never missed any of the grandkid’s games. Paul was employed as a motor inspector in the steel mills of East Chicago Indiana for many years before his retirement. He was employed by LTV Steel and later with Vidimos. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing on Lake Michigan with many relatives and friends. Fishing on his pontoon boat, spending time on Gravel Lake with all his buddies and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Whiting Boat Club for years. He was also a long-time member of the Michiana Walleye Association.
