Randy Lee Heeter, 70, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025, in Mishawaka. He was born on June 28, 1954, in South Bend and spent his life rooted in the community he loved. A graduate of Penn High School (Class of 1972), Randy began his career at AM General in 1975. As an accomplished mechanic specializing in military vehicles, he earned a reputation for reliability and dedication. His work ethic and commitment were evident throughout his career. Even after suffering a stroke that led to complications with epilepsy, Randy worked tirelessly to recover with the hope of returning to the job he valued so deeply. Though ultimately forced to retire in 2010 due to health challenges, his determination left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Randy was a quiet man with a gentle soul and stubborn spirit. He found joy in simple pleasures – bowling and kayaking with friends and family brought him happiness and connection. A devoted NASCAR fan, he rarely missed an opportunity to attend the Indianapolis 500 where the roar of engines matched his quiet but enduring passion for the sport.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Deborah Heeter Perry, adult children, Todd, Terry, and Tanya Heeter, grandchildren, Taylor Price along with, Orion and Sebastian Clements. Randy now joins those who passed before him, his beloved son, Timothy Lee, parents Robert and Bonnie (Heeter) Frick, siblings, Robert Heeter, Jr., and Connie (Heeter) Villwock, and in-laws Maxine and Dennis Perry, with their sons, Roy and Dennis, Jr. and sister-in-law, Paula (Perry) Decook Greene and Pamela (Perry) Cabanaw.
May Randy’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and peace in knowing he is reunited with his son and cherished loved ones.
