Richard L. “Dick” Miller, 80, of Elkhart bravely fought until his passing on Saturday, February 14, 2026, with family by his side. He was born in Elkhart to the late Vanus and Edith (Woodworth) Miller on Dec. 7, 1945, and married Pamela “Pam” Miller after graduating from Jimtown High School. They celebrated 55 years of marriage, before her passing in July of 2022.

Surviving are their children, Douglas (Kimberly) Miller of Peachtree City, GA, and Tina (Brent) Hill of South Bend. Also surviving are grandchildren Chase (Lindsey) Miller, Skylar (Ella) Miller, Spencer Miller, Chance, Anna-Leigh, and Braxton Hutton, Alicia (Ricky) Linde, Katherine (Gabe) Hill, and Kyle (Alison) Coleman, along with great-grandchildren Koulsen, Boone, Rhetson, and J.J. Miller; Landon, Aiden, and Taelynn Linde; Gemma Barnes; and Abigail and Ryben Coleman. Dick’s sister, Shirley Rumfelt, also survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, his siblings Peg Basse, Ruth Ann Shirley, Larry Miller, and Dave Miller and his great grandson Hagen Miller.

Dick, a proud U.S. Army veteran, retired from Auto Driveaway, where he owned and operated franchise locations in both Georgia and Osceola. He took great pride in his work and was known for his leadership and attention to detail. Away from work, Dick enjoyed spending time with those he loved, singing, playing cards, and sharing adventures together. He poured countless hours into the community, coaching, umpiring, cheering, and faithfully supporting Baugo Little League and Jimtown High School athletics. Dick was also a lifelong fan of Mickey Mantle and was often teased that it was a toss-up who he loved more, Mickey or his beloved wife. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Megan and Julie of Paradigm Hospice, and to Jessica and the team at Greenleaf Health Campus, for the exceptional care and love they showed Dick.

Cremation has taken place and there will be one hour of visitation prior to the 11:30 am celebration of life service on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Baugo Little League or Jimtown High School Athletics. To light a virtual candle, share a story of Dick’s life, or extend a message of comfort to his family, please visit the Guestbook tab above.
