Sandra Lynn “Sandy” Shyposki, age 64, of Goshen, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Goshen Hospital. Sandy was born on March 9, 1961, in Onekama, Michigan, to Robert Lee and Diane Gay (Pfeiffer) Somsel. She was a graduate of Brethren High School and later earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Central Michigan University. While working as an inpatient and outpatient substance abuse counselor, Sandy met Paul Shyposki, who was employed as a physical therapist at the same hospital. They soon fell in love and were married on August 27, 1988, sharing more than 37 years of love and laughter together.
Paul survives, along with their son, Luke Shyposki and his wife, Julie; her mother, Diane Somsel; and her siblings, David Somsel and his wife, Jeanette, of Brethren, Michigan, Donny Somsel and his wife, Maria, of Bear Lake, Michigan, and Sherry Boucher and her husband, John, of Williamsburg, Michigan. Also surviving is her grandson, Callan Shyposki, whom she adored, and his baby brother, due in May of 2026, whom she was eagerly anticipating meeting. Sandy is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sandy worked for several years as an inpatient and outpatient substance abuse counselor before devoting herself fully to her family as a homemaker. Raising her son, Luke, and spending time with her beloved grandson, Callan, were among her greatest joys. Family was everything to her, and she poured her heart into caring for those she loved.
In her spare time, Sandy enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden, cross-country and downhill skiing, hiking, and riding her off-road motorcycle through the Manistee National Forest. She was also a talented musician, playing both the flute and saxophone, and she shared her God-given musical gifts through her involvement at New Creation Fellowship Church.
Sandy loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. She spent countless hours studying His Word and lived as a disciple of Jesus throughout her life, openly sharing her faith and encouraging others by her example.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the 2:00 pm memorial service on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at New Creation Fellowship Church in Granger. Cruz Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with her care.
