Shelly R. Cotter, age 47, passed away at her home in Mishawaka on March 31, 2026. Shelly was born July 20, 1978, in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Larry and Cathy (Linville) Page. She was a graduate of Northwood High School and later worked for several years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Louann’s Nursing Home where she took great pride in caring for her patients. On March 3, 2012, she married Brian Cotter at their home in Mishawaka. Shelly and Brian recently celebrated 14 years of marriage.

Brian survives, along with their children, Justin Sommers of Warrensburg, Missouri and Jeremy (Amber) Sommers of Wyatt, Indiana, Ashley (Derrick) Elkins of Warsaw, Indiana and Kyle (Amanda) Cotter of Niles, Michigan. Surviving as well is her first husband who remained a part of her life, Dan Sommers, five grandchildren, her step-mother, Mary Page of Memphis, Tennessee, and her siblings Chris (Jodi) Page of Bartlett, Tennessee and Heather Page of Memphis, Tennessee. Four nieces and nephews survive as well.

Outside of work, Shelly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially on trips to Gulf Shores, Alabama and in nature in the Baldwin, Michigan area. At home, she kept busy tending to her garden and flower beds. She had an appreciation for music of all kinds and a natural talent for photography, rarely missing the opportunity to capture moments with family and friends. She also loved her pets, especially her birds, and enjoyed quiet days spent fishing.

She will be remembered for her outgoing nature and how easily she connected with others. Shelly could strike up a conversation with anyone and had a way of making people feel comfortable. She had a strong and giving spirit, always willing to help when someone was in need. Time with her family mattered most, especially during the holidays, when Christmas and New Year’s brought everyone together. Her grandchildren could always count on her to make the season special, often marked by stacks of gifts and a home filled with love and laughter.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with her arrangements.
