Shirley D. Rumfelt, 93, entered heavenly rest on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at her home, with family by her side. She was born in Lagrange on February 13, 1933, to the late Vanus and Edythe (Woodworth) Miller. She later married D. Gene Rumfelt in January 1951.

Surviving is her children Michael (Trish) Rumfelt of Osceola, and Judy (Jim) Bammerlin of Florida, along with six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and husband, her son, Scott, all five of her younger siblings, Peggy Basse, Richard “Dick” Miller, Ruth Ann Shirley, and Larry and Dave Miller, along with a great-grandson, Jacob Heddon.

Shirley was affectionally known as the “Label Lady” at Elkhart Products where she faithfully served until her retirement. Outside of work, she enjoyed the challenge of a jigsaw puzzle or traveling in her RV with Gene creating lasting memories. However, Shirley’s faith was the most vital aspect of her life as she attended Calvary United Methodist Church for over 70 years.

Cremation has taken place with a time to visit with family and friends scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 22, 2026, from 2-3p, with a brief service to celebrate a beautiful life beginning at 3p, all at Calvary United Methodist Church, Elkhart. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Calvary UMC in honor of Shirley.
