Spencer Troy Lutz, 55, passed away in his home on May 19, surrounded by the love of his family after courageously battling cancer for 22 months. Through every step of his journey, Spencer displayed unwavering faith, deep love for others, and remarkable strength.

Born on August 24 in Goshen, Indiana, to Deb Butler and Mark Lutz, Spencer grew up in White Pigeon, Michigan. More than anything, Spencer was a devoted follower of Jesus whose faith shaped the way he lived, led, loved, and encouraged others. He was known for his joyful spirit, servant heart, and ability to make people feel seen, valued, and loved.

Spencer was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, friend, coach, and leader. His greatest joy in life was his family. Whether cheering on his children and grandchildren, spending time with loved ones, offering encouragement, or simply sharing a conversation, Spencer made the people around him feel deeply cared for. He led his family with strength, humility, generosity, and steadfast faith.

Professionally, Spencer dedicated more than 30 years to the hardwood lumber and millwork industry. Throughout his career, he served in numerous leadership roles, including President of American Millwork, Director of Sales at Granite Valley Forest Products, and President, Vice President, Sales Manager, General Manager, Plant Manager, and NHLA Certified Lumber Inspector at Banks Hardwoods. He was respected not only for his knowledge and leadership, but also for the genuine relationships he built throughout the industry. Spencer loved people well and took great pride in encouraging and investing in others.

Spencer is survived by his beloved wife of over 35 years, Peggy; his mother, Deb (Frank) Butler; his children, Ashley (Luke) Lattimer, Taylor (Cody) Sears, Ryan (Sara) Lutz, and Drew (Katie) Lutz; his grandchildren, Zeke, Jax, and Cooper Lattimer; Kyler and Judah Lutz; and Owen Sears; and his siblings, Corey (Tina) Lutz, Amber (Patrick) Minchella, Julie (JD) Garrison, and Jordon (Krystal) Morris; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family members, friends, and loved ones who were impacted by his faith, kindness, and encouragement.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 30, at Bethany Missionary Church. There will be a visitation from 3-5pm, and the service will begin at 5pm.

The family would like to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming prayers, meals, support, encouragement, and love shown throughout Spencer’s journey. His life was a reflection of Jesus, and his legacy of faith, love, and encouragement will continue through the many lives he touched.
