Suzanne M. Brown, 71, of Elkhart, bravely fought until her passing on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at her home. She was born on March 1, 1955, in South Bend to the late Jerry Coughenour and Georgia (Baker) Holcomb.
Suzanne is survived by her son, Todd Baker, and grandchildren, Chloe and Cameron; her siblings, Diana (William) Funkhouser, Terry Elliott, Rick Coughenour, and Laura (Terrence) Holcomb, all of Elkhart; and many other extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Tony (Patty) Coughenour and Robin Cole, a grandson, Austin Baker, and a special niece, Leigh Butler.
Suzanne was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family and making memories with the people she loved. She especially enjoyed traveling to her cabin in Brown County, Indiana, where she could relax and enjoy time away. Above all, Suzanne was a selfless and loving caregiver who always put her family first.
Suzanne's family shared this beautiful reflection on the impact she had on their lives:
“Through you, we learned to face the wind, no matter how big the storm; to love, no matter how deep the hurt; and to smile, no matter how sad we are. But most of all, you taught us to know how big God really is; that He fits inside all of our hearts. For this, we praise Him. For having you, Suzanne Brown, in our lives, we thank Him.” And as her family gives thanks for her life, they hold close the words of Psalm 63:3: “Because Thy loving kindness is better than life; my lips shall praise Thee.”
In accordance with Suzanne’s wishes, cremation has taken place with no formal services scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Center for Hospice Care.
