Barbara Jean (Cornell) Gill

Barbara Jean Gill, age 66 of Osceola, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 13, 2021 with her family faithfully by her side.  Barb was born November 10, 1954 in Rochester, Indiana to the late Warren and Florence (Twaits) Cornell.   On January 30, 1972, she married Douglas J. Gill in South Bend, Indiana.  The Gill’s recently celebrated their 49th anniversary. 

Barb is survived by her husband Douglas J. Gill Sr. and their children Doug Gill and Tonya (Chris) Runyan of Osceola, Warren Gill of South Bend, Justin Gill (fiancée Michelle Henk) and Sherri Gill (fiancée David Emmons III), both of Mishawaka.  Surviving as well are sixteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, along with her siblings Diane Springer of Florida, Warren Cornell and Rocky Cornell, both of South Bend.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Beverly Niezgodski, Sandy Cornell and Patty Ann Abbott, and her infant granddaughter Hannah Gill.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, March 22, 2021 at Cruz Family Funeral Home with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Family meant everything to Barb, and she was fortunate enough to be a stay-at-home mom and spend time raising her children. They took many family vacations and spent time camping together for many years.  Most of all, Barb loved spoiling her grandchildren.  Her talent for arts and crafts were unsurpassed and she will forever be remembered for making life sized pinatas, decorating Christmas trees and making gorgeous wreaths to decorate her home.   In her later years, she became very fond of playing various video games on her tablet in her spare time.
