Billie Joyce (Edgell) Adkins

Billie Joyce Adkins, age 88 of Mishawaka passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Sanctuary at Holy Cross on Thursday, November 14, 2019.  Billie was born October 21, 1931 in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late Guy and Bessie (Jacobs) Edgell.  On December 20, 1947, she married Jesse Adkins in South Bend, Indiana.   Jesse preceded her in death, passing away in May of 2014. 

          Surviving is her daughter Kathie Kay (Don) Hixenbaugh of Mishawaka and her grandchildren Dori Hughes of Mishawaka and Dawn (Jeremiah) Rizek, of Walkerton.  Surviving as well are her great grandchildren, Madison, Abby, Aubrey and Jayce.  She was preceded in death by her daughter Leloni Sue Adkins and her sister Betty Rhodes. 

          Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the 1:00pm funeral service on Monday, November 18, 2019 at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola.  Leroy Wise, visiting Pastor from Osceola United Methodist Church will officiate.  Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

          Billie was employed as a seamstress for many years at HD Lee and Gerber Manufacturing until her retirement in her mid-forties. In her spare time, she loved to cook and sew, work in her garden, and watch the hummingbirds that surrounded her feeders throughout the spring and summer.  Billie was also a longtime member of the Osceola United Methodist Church.   Most of all she loved to spend time with her family, especially at Christmastime where she enjoyed hosting dinners for her family and friends.
