David Runnels

Mr. David L. Runnels, 79, passed away on Saturday Nov 27, 2021, at his longtime residence.   

David was born April 18, 1942, to the late Jerry and Stella (Mills) Runnels. He was a graduate of the first class of Penn High School and retired from Lock Joint Tube, South Bend. 

David is survived by the love of his life, Connie (Kesler) Runnels. David often said he struck Platinum, Gold & Silver when they married on August 2, 1970, in New Paris, Indiana.  Also surviving are his daughters Sheila Dodd and Karen (John) Jones of Mishawaka; his son, Bruce (Shannon) Runnels of Granger, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and half-sister. He was also preceded in death by three half- brothers Owen Runnels, Bill Runnels, and Jack L. Mills. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday December 2, 2021, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Cruz Family Funeral Home, Osceola, and one hour prior to the 10:00 am funeral on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola. Interment and military honors will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.  

David was a Veteran, having served with the US Navy for 10 years before transferring to the US Air Force for another 18 ½ years of service. He was a member of Faith Community Church, Osceola. His favorite pastimes included roller skating, repairing and detailing cars, keeping up acquaintances with longtime friends and co-workers, sharing memories of hometown life, and sharing clean jokes to pass the time.  He was very proud of his family and often made mention of his love for them.
