Debra Ann (Wainscott) Denaway

Debra Ann Denaway, age 62 of Mishawaka passed away December 14, 2021, at The Center for Hospice, Raclin House.  Debra was born March 10, 1959, in South Bend, Indiana to the late Lonnie and Virginia (Ciesiolka) Wainscott.  On February 11, 1978, she married Gary Craig Dunaway in Niles Michigan.

Gary survives, along with their children Terry (Amber) Denaway of New Carlisle, Indiana, Chris Denaway and Steve (Ashley) Denaway, both of Mishawaka.  Surviving as well are her grandchildren Terry (Ashley) Denaway Jr.  Tara (Steven) Patton, Joey Denaway, Angel Denaway, Mason Denaway, Makayla Denaway, Mary Denaway, Mackenzie Scott, Gabriel Denaway, Layten Denaway and Braley Platz.  Surviving as well are her great grandchildren Maggie Haines, Taaron Haines, Cash Patton, Anna, Noah, Isabella, Jaynell Denaway and Terry Denaway III.  She was preceded in death by her brother Daniel Wainscott.

Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the 5:00 pm funeral service on Monday, December 20, 2021, at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola. 

Debra loved serving others and was employed at St. Paul Retirement Center as a dietary aid. She also loved listening to music and spending time with her family.  Each holiday, Debra would invite her grandchildren over to help her decorate her home for the season.  Caring for her family was her main priority and she loved hosting Christmas dinner for her family. Even when times were tough, Debra would sacrifice and save money so she could spoil her grandchildren.

She also had a big heart for stray pets in the neighborhood and took in several stray cats while caring for other pets in the neighborhood.  Her favorite cat “Fuzzy” will also miss her tremendously.
