George Barrett Obituary

George W. Barrett, age 81, passed away at his home in Granger on April 16, 2023. George was born August 19, 1941, in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late William Earl and Hannah Isabelle (Howard) Barrett.  He was a graduate of Washington Clay High School and later enlisted in the US Army where he served honorably from 1963-1965.  On July 12, 1974, he married Norma Schaetzle in Goshen, Indiana.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Norma Barrett and their son, Jason Barrett, both of Granger. Surviving as well are his sisters Iva Suski of Granger, Lou Nixon of Florida and Anna Beason of Washington. His siblings Margaret Deman, Sandra Weaver, Barbara Laughman and James Barrett, all preceded him in death.

George will be laid to rest with military honors in a private ceremony on the grounds of Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Cruz Family Funeral Home of Osceola has been entrusted with his care.

George was employed for many years as a tow motor operator at Miles Laboratories (Bayer).  He was a simple man who enjoyed spending time with his family whom he loved dearly.

The Barrett family would like to thank the Doctors and staff at AseraCare Hospice and their loving neighbors, Reverend Dennis and Sharon Chaput for their love, prayers, care and concern for George during his illness.
