John Murnane III Obituary

John Patrick Murnane III, age 67 of Mishawaka, passed away Monday, December 16, 2019 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center surrounded by his wife, children, brother and sisters.  John was born October 10, 1952 in Oak Lawn, Illinois to the late John P. Jr. & Annette (Duda) Murnane.  On June 21, 1994, he married Kimberly Rist in South Bend, Indiana.

Surviving are his elder children Linda Murnane-Furlong of Mishawaka, John P. (Megan) Murnane IV of Lakeville, his wife Kim and their William “Billy” (Chelsea) Rist, and Christopher Murnane, all of Mishawaka. Surviving as well are his grandchildren Amber and Codie Furlong and Clara Faye Rist.  John is also survived by his siblings Larry Murnane of Hickory Hills, Illinois, Patti Silvestri of Wilmington, Illinois, and Barb (Mark) Kryda of Peotone, Illinois, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Following John’s wishes, cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life memorial service and military honors will be held at a later date.  Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola is assisting with the arrangements.

John enlisted in the US Air Force and served honorably from 1974-1981.  He will be remembered for his deep love of the military and his patriotic demeanor.  John was also a faithful member of the Catholic church and a deeply conservative Republican.

He was employed for many years as a certified mechanic at Precision Tune-Up (later Master Auto Care) for many years.  In his spare time, he loved cars, motorcycles and snowmobiling. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed working on model trains.

More than anything, John loved his family.  He was very proud of his daughter Linda’s artwork and also loved the many dogs they had throughout the years, especially Collies and Shelties. He will be greatly missed and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved forever.
