Jose Lopez Jr.

Jose Lopez Jr.,age 79 of Mishawaka, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.  Jose was born May 12, 1942 in El Paso, Texas to the late Jose and Lorraine (Hill) Lopez. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 35 years, Gloria Lopez.  He later remarried and was preceded in death by his second wife, Trini Lopez, ten years ago.

Surviving are his sisters Lorraine Burnett of El Paso, Texas, Mary Vasquez of Mishawaka, and Irene Webber of South Bend, along with several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law Ruben Vasquez Sr. and LaVern Dale Webber. 

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the 11:00 am funeral service on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola.  Bishop Charles Wiseman of the Ireland Road Church of God will officiate the service.  Interment will follow in Rice Cemetery.  A livestream of Jose’s service will be available beginning 5 minutes prior to the 11 am funeral service.

Jose was employed for many years in the construction industry and had the privilege of working with both his brother in law Ruben and his nephew Ruben Jr. for a short time.  Jose used skills in construction and woodworking to craft custom ashtrays for his family and friends.  In his spare time, he enjoyed walking downtown Mishawaka, watching movies; especially Westerns starring John Wayne, and spending time outdoors.  Jose also attended the Ireland Road Church of God where he enjoyed worship with his family.
