Judy (Ware) Gist

Judy Gist, age 65 of Elkhart, passed away in her husband’s arms on the morning of October 20, 2020.  Judy was born October 22, 1954 in Grenada, Mississippi to the late Elvin and Mary Ware.  After her high school graduation, she attended Coahoma Community College in Clarksdale, Mississippi.  On March 2, 1991 she was united in marriage to Mr. Derek Gist in Chicago, Illinois.  They would have celebrated their 30th anniversary next year.

Derek survives, along with their children Tony Terrell Ware of Grenada, Mississippi, Leonard Anthony Gist and Raysel Kiara Gist, both of Chicago, Illinois. Surviving as well is her mother in law Thelma Gist of Country Club Hills, Illinois.  She is also survived by a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in law.  All of her siblings preceded her in death.

There will be no formal services.  The Gist family asks that you remember Judy in your own special way.  Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service is entrusted with her care. 

Judy was very active in a variety of hobbies.  Most of all, she loved her husband and her children and she always put their needs before her own.
