Kathryn Louise (Zigler) Jewart

Kathryn L. Jewart, age 83 of Osceola, passed away at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka on Thursday, March 19, 2020.  Kathryn was born October 9, 1936 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Charles H. and Iva (Finkenbinder) Zigler.  On August 26, 1966, she married Melvin Jewart in Mishawaka. Melvin preceded her in death, passing away in 2002.

Surviving are her children Sandra (James) Stanford of Osceola, Dennis (Linda) Jewart of Elkhart, Candice (Ronald) Griffin of Florida, Todd Jewart, & Mary (John) Davis, both of South Bend, and Clyde Platz of Wisconsin.  Also surviving is her stepdaughter Deb Wissinger of Pennsylvania and her brother Tom Zigler of South Bend.  Surviving as well are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A graveside ceremony will be held at 11:30 am, Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.  Cruz Family Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.

Kathryn was employed as a CNA throughout the St. Joseph County region for over 20 years before retiring approximately 15 years ago.  In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting and was an excellent cook.  She loved to fish with her husband Melvin, and they enjoyed traveling to visit family in Pennsylvania and Georgia.  Later, Kathryn lived with her daughter Sandra and enjoyed watching shows on the Food Network and Live PD.
