Larry James Hupp, age 65 of Granger, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Larry was born July 30, 1952 in South Bend, Indiana to George and Mary Lou (Slater) Hupp. Following his graduation from Mishawaka High School, Larry attended Holy Cross College. On July 22, 1972, he married the former Miss Gloria Kuhl in South Bend, Indiana. They celebrated 45 years of marriage.
Gloria survives, along with their sons Christian (Katrina) Hupp of Seattle, Washington and Ryan (Jennifer) Hupp of Grand Rapids, Michigan, his granddaughters Stella and Ava Hupp of Seattle and his mother, Mary Lou Hupp of Granger. Also surviving are his siblings Greg Hupp (Robin) of Pompano Beach, Florida, Becky Baumgardner of Granger, Dana Hupp (Nancy) of Granger and Jimmy Hupp (Roxie) of Osceola. Surviving as well are several nieces and nephews.
Larry was kind, patient and very talented. He owned Larry Hupp Incorporated, which allowed him to pursue his passion for custom home design. He was also a very talented artist. Larry was an avid reader and loved many adventurous outdoor activities including scuba diving, mountain climbing, skiing, and kayaking. Above all else, Larry cherished the time he spent with his family.
The Hupp family wishes to express very sincere and heartfelt thanks to family/friends, and all the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, especially Dr. Reem Karmali and Cory Bazzine, for the extraordinary care, encouragement, and compassion shown to Larry during his illness.
A celebration of Larry’s life will take place at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 12 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger. Immediately following the service there will be a luncheon/visitation. The Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola is assisting with arrangements.
