***SERVICE TIMES HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED***

Linda Bennett, age 79 of South Bend, passed away at Memorial Hospital on Monday, December 5, 2022. Linda was born August 11, 1943, in Anderson, Indiana to the late Paul and Daisy (Fillenwarth) Higdon. She was a graduate of Ben Davis High School and on February 18, 1962, she married Charles “Larry” Bennett. Larry preceded her in death on February 12, 2017, just six days shy of their 55th anniversary.

Linda is survived by her children Janet (Jim) Smith of DeWitt, Michigan, Karon (Rob) Cassingham of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Carol (Ross) Brooks of South Bend. Surviving as well are 8 grandchildren: Amber (Adam) Dobbrastine, Nathan (Jessica) Smith, Russell Smith, Dan (Amber) Cason, Cyle (Brenda) Cason, Christopher Cason, Ryan Brooks and Christine Brooks. Surviving as well are 12 great-grandchildren and her siblings Joan (Mike) Godfrey of Lakeville, Indiana, and Janell (Steve) Miller of South Bend, along with her sister-in-law Linda Higdon of South Bend. Her parents, Paul (2006) and Daisy (2000) Higdon, her brother, Ronald Higdon (2005), and her great-granddaughter Elena Dobbrastine (2010) preceded her in death.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Saturday, February 4 from 11am to 1pm at St Mark's Missionary Church in Mishawaka. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with her care.

Linda was the owner of Brush Strokes, Inc. in South Bend from 1983 -2006 when she retired to care for her husband. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and landscaping her yard, playing the violin, and was an avid reader. Linda also loved traveling with her family to Disneyworld and had made several trips to the parks throughout her lifetime.

Above all else, Linda was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved and adored her family. Family always came first in Linda’s life, and the memories she made with her grandchildren and great grandchildren will be cherished forever.

The family is comforted by the idea that Linda, whose favorite Disney Princess was Cinderella, is finally dancing again with her Prince Charming. Although, midnight will never come, and they will dance together forever in eternity.
