Michael K. Rains Sr.

Michael Kenton Rains Sr., age 58 of Mishawaka, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka after a brief illness. Mike was born December 13, 1962, in Gary, Indiana to the late David Lewis and Betty Mae (King) Rains.  On September 27, 1986, he married Laura M. Ramsey in Merrillville, Indiana. They had recently celebrated their 35th anniversary.

Laura survives, along with their children Michael (Erynn Hall) Rains Jr. of Osceola, Valerie (Seldon) Armstrong and Megan Rains, both of Mishawaka.  Surviving as well are his grandchildren Ethan, Oliver, Iris, Adaline and Amelia, along with two sisters and six brothers.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held from 1:00-4:00 pm Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola. 

Mike was employed for many years as a group leader at Skyline in Elkhart before becoming the Maintenance Manager of the Hampton Inn and Suites of Granger over seven years ago.  He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and willingness to lead others by his example.

In his spare time, Mike enjoyed cooking out and spending time with his family. During family get togethers, he would often play cornhole and socialize with his friends. 

Most of all, he will be remembered as a man who enjoyed life and loved his family dearly.
