Oran Daniel Richards

Oran Daniel Richards, age 84 of Elkhart, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 24, 2019.  Oran was born May 26, 1935 in Georgia to the late Charles and Winnie (Lindsey) Richards.  Oran served honorably in the US Army at the end of the Korean War.  He worked in environmental services at Elkhart General Hospital for over 30 years, retiring in 2006.  While working at the hospital, he met his wife Barbara Ann (Bauer) Fout.  They were married at the hospital surrounded by their family and friends on October 11, 2003.

Barbara survives, along with her children Laura (Rodney) Telsworth of Centreville, MI, Robert (Ellen) Fout of Fresno, TX, Pam (Bryan) First of St. Louis, MO, Ronald (Brenda) Fout of Sandersville, GA, and Sharon Hill of Kinton, OH.  Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and his sister-in-law Maria Richards.  He was preceded in death by his siblings Edith, Albert, Delbert, John, Cullen and Mazie Richards, and a step-son, Richie Fout. 

Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019 at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola.   There will also be 1 hour of visitation prior to the 1pm funeral service on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019 at Elkhart County Community Baptist Church in Elkhart.  Interment will follow in Olive Cemetery.

Oran was a generous and kind man who enjoyed treating his family and friends to a nice dinner and picking up the entire bill.  He enjoyed buying and reading books and had started a Christian library in his home so others could enjoy them as well.
