Robert Warren Obituary

Robert Vern Warren, age 87 of Osceola, IN went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of April 20, 2022, with his loving family by his side.  Bob was born September 12, 1934, in Flint, Michigan to the late Vern Edward and Laura (Davis) Warren.  Following his graduation from Central High School (Flint, MI), Bob served in the US Naval Reserves until his enrollment in Moody Bible College.  On July 2, 1954, he married Carolyn Sue Ellis.  Bob continued his education at Calvary Bible College, earning his bachelor’s degree in Theology.  He continued working towards his master’s degree at both the Dallas Theological Seminary and the Detroit Theological Seminary. In 1987, Pastor Warren received an honorary doctorate from Bob Jones University.

Pastor Warren had a passion for the congregations that God entrusted to him and served the Lord with his whole heart.  Many people came to know Christ through his ministry, and he loved to disciple and teach God’s Word with a caring, loving heart. He was known for his kind, compassionate spirit with the people he served, while still being true to the authority of God’s Word.

He began pastoring at Somerset Bible Church of Somerset, Kansas during his senior year of college, served as the youth pastor at Berean Baptist Church of Flint, Michigan, served as pastor at First Baptist Church of Melvin, Michigan and later accepted the position of pastor of the First Baptist Church of Wixom, Michigan for 30 years. He also founded Wixom Christian School.  Later Pastor Warren served the congregations of Parr Memorial Baptist Church of Petoskey, Michigan, and New Hope Baptist Church of Allegan, MI.  After retiring from full time ministry, he served several interim pastorates throughout Michigan.

He was a devoted husband and father. He valued his family, and enjoyed “Monday” family game nights, camping/traveling, running, biking, hunting, fishing, sports, and the Detroit Tigers.  He enjoyed reading God’s Word daily both personally and with the family in devotion times.  He also loved reading and studying many books.

Surviving is his wife of 67 years, Carolyn Sue Warren of Osceola, IN, and their children Donald Warren (Kyla Townsend) of Mishawaka, IN and Dawna (Jonathan) Kluttz of Salisbury, NC.  His son Daniel Warren (Lauren Warren) of Easley, SC preceded Bob in death in 2018.  Surviving as well are his grandchildren: Joel Warren (Valia), Annelysse (Greg) Mehlhose, Megan Warren, Carissa Warren-Ortiz (Luis), Michael Warren, Eva Townsend, Jacob Kluttz, Mia Kluttz, and Laila Kluttz, and his great grandchildren Caleb and Emma Mehlhose.
