Roger Alan Whitmer

Roger Alan Whitmer, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 12th.
Roger was born on June 28, 1951 in Elkhart, Indiana to Charles and Mary Jane Catherine (Swanitz) Whitmer, Sr. He worked for many years as a truck driver. On June 16, 1979, he married the love of his life, Linda J. Swinson in New Paris, Indiana. She preceded him in death in 2014.
He is survived by his children, Kimberly A. (James) Kerr and Tracy L. (Andy) Clark, step children, David Swinson, Christopher Swinson and Lori J. Wright. He was the proud grandfather of Tiffany Renee’ Weaver, Kevin A. Barnes, Christopher Whitmer and Zachary W. Hoffman, step-grandfather of Nathaniel, Samantha, and Casey Wright, David Swinson, Jr. and Courtney Swinson, great-grandfather of Luna Grace Weaver, Calleigh Mae Weaver, and Maverick Grayson Vandiver, step-great grandfather of 7. He also leaves behind his sister, Joan Mohr. Roger was preceded in death by son, Roger Whitmer II, grandson, Anthony Barnes, siblings, Gene, Sally, Sue, Peggy, Charles, Gloria, Penny, and Mary Jeanette. 
Roger will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Sugar Grove Cemetery of Goshen in a private service. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services assisted his family with arrangements.
