Roy Frederick Miltenberger

Roy Frederick Miltenberger, age 82, passed away at his home in South Bend on May 17, 2022.  Roy was born July 5, 1939, in South Bend, to the late Daniel and Eliza (Cranmer) Miltenberger.  On October 12, 1963, he married Linda Jean Jacobs.  They celebrated 56 years of marriage before her passing on July 23, 2020. 

Roy is survived by his children Joseph (Susan) Miltenberger, Roy F. Miltenberger II, and Linda Fulbright, all of South Bend.  Surviving as well are his grandchildren, Lacey M. (Juan) Gonzalez-Lopez, Travis Miltenberger, Liz Naland and Bryan Ransyer, and his brother, George Miltenberger.  He was preceded in death by 15 brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola.  There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 11am funeral service at Cruz Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.  Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, South Bend.

Roy was employed for over 30 years with the St. Joseph County Highway Department where he was given the “Key to the County” for his honorable service throughout the years. While employed with the county, he was a member of the Teamsters Union. 

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing with his kids and traveling with his wife Linda on day trips in the Michiana area.  Roy also loved to color with his grandchildren and was a talented artist, using colored pencils to make wonderful works of art.  He will be remembered as a kind and patient man who was always willing to give of his time to help others.
