Shirley I. (Horn) Kendle

Shirley I. Kendle, age 86 of Granger, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, August 14, 2023, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.  Shirley was born July 24, 1937, in Loogootee, Indiana to the late Roy and Dovie (Divine) Horn. She was employed for many years with the Uniroyal Corporation before becoming a greeter at the Meijer store on the south side of Mishawaka for nearly 30 years.

Surviving is her daughter Shannon Bostian of Granger, three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her daughter Dovie Muis in 2017, and her sisters Maxine Perry, Pat Gibson, Frances Clark and Linda Ellis.

Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the noon funeral service on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola. 

In her spare time, Shirley loved to gamble at the local casinos and enjoy the free comps she would receive for buffets and hotel rooms.  She was also fond of finding a great bargain while out shopping and loved taking advantage of a great deal, whether the items were truly needed or not! 

Most of all, her love for her family was the center of her world.  She found great joy in spending time with her family, telling funny stories and sharing memories.  Even through adversity, Shirley found the good in others and their circumstances, and kept a positive outlook on life.
