Thomas "TJ" Stitt Obituary

Thomas Jon “TJ” Stitt, age 38 of South Bend, passed away at Memorial Hospital after injuries sustained after he was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle on Sunday, November 7, 2021.  TJ was born March 17, 1983, in Edwardsburg, Michigan and was adopted by Walter and Karen (Pierce) Stitt at the age of 2. TJ was a hard worker and he was employed for the last several years with Godfrey Marine in Elkhart where he held a Group Leader’s position and was working toward a promotion to management.

TJ is survived by his fiancé Alison Siders of South Bend, his father Walter Stitt of Niles, Michigan, and his children Morgan, Myka, Camron, Karyn, Thomas and Sophie Stitt and Roaslie and Dash Loging. Surviving as well are his siblings Bob (Barb) Stitt of Cassopolis, Michigan, Bill (Heather) Stitt of Fremont, Indiana, Rusty Stitt of Schoolcraft, Michigan, Wade Stitt of Pleasant Lake, Michigan, Lisa (Kevin) Luckey of Elkhart, Sue Ellen (Andrew) Whitmer of Elkhart, Christina (Glen) Yoder of Middlebury, Indiana, Holly (David Plummer) of Elkhart, and Amy (Brian) Bystrom of Florida.  He was preceded in death by his mother Karen Stitt in 2012 and his infant sister Carrie Lynn Stitt.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday, November 12, 2021, at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will begin at 10am Saturday, November 13, 2021, and TJ will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.

He was an avid fan of sports and loved to bowl and TJ had recently expressed to his brother that he wanted to learn to play golf.  TJ was also an avid fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

In his spare time, TJ enjoyed riding his Harley and was a full patched member of the Boogie Down Motorcycle Club, South Bend Chapter, where he was elected to the position of Sergeant at Arms.  His untimely passing will never distance the depth of respect his brothers in the Boogie Down MC and his fellow riders held for him, for as long as they ride, memories of TJ shall ride with them.

Above all else, his greatest joy was his family whom he loved beyond measure.  TJ was a loving and devoted fiancé to Alison, a caring father to his children, a wonderful brother to his siblings, and a son who was loved deeply by his parents.  He will be remembered by his family for the smile he always had on his face and his ability to make others feel like family.

In lieu of flowers, the Stitt family asks that contributions be directed to TJ’s funeral fund to assist with final expenses either directly to the Funeral Home or through the DONATE tab above.   To light a virtual candle in TJ’s memory, share a story of his life, or leave a message of condolence for his family, please follow the links provided on the Tribute Wall tab above.
