Obituary

William Murry “Bill” Newman, age 87 of Edwardsburg, Michigan, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 10, 2022.  Bill was born August 18, 1934, in Dandridge, Tennessee, to the late George and Beatrice (Denison) Newman.  While driving a tour bus full of ladies on a trip to Frankenmuth, Michigan, he caught the eye of Iris (Nicodemus) Linger.  They later married on December 23, 2001, at her daughter’s home in Granger.

Iris survives, along with Bill’s children Cliff (Sue) Newman of Jefferson City, Tennessee, Lisa Newman of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Steven (Jackie) Blau of Maplewood, New Jersey, and Robin (Chris) Caddenhead Russo, and his daughter-in-law Melinda Newman of Garrett, Indiana. Surviving as well are Iris’ children Karen (Roger) Cook and Denis (Becky) Egert, both of Edwardsburg, Michigan.  Bill is also survived by his grandchildren: Kristi (Dusty) Hampshire, Dusty, Shawn, Danielle (Walter) Krauss, Robert (Ciera) Newman,  Ashley (Chris) Dunn, Christopher Huff, Phillip (Lori) Egert, Tania (David) Lace, Josh Egert, Keyna (Dan) Jankoviak, Sheri (Matt) Aurenz, Ashley (Duane) Sayaloune, Branden (Alexandra) Blau, Austin Blau, and his great grandchildren Brayden, Brysten, Jada, Trinity, Jordan, Josiah, Mikia, Kadin, Anna, Kaiden, Maridee, Rylin, Evan, Ian, Alexa, Henry, Jonah, Shelby and Luke.  Bill was preceded in death by his son Scott Newman and his siblings Ralph, Roy, Blanche, and Sam.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the 12:00pm funeral service on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola.  Pastor Chris Rowe of the Apostolic Temple Church of South Bend will officiate the service and Bill will be laid to rest in Adamsville Road Cemetery, Edwardsburg, Michigan.  For those unable to attend in person, a livestream of Bill’s funeral will begin at 11:50 am from his webpage at www.CruzFamilyFH.com.

Bill was employed for many years as a licensed Real Estate Agent and represented ReMax and Milligan Realty before his retirement.  In his younger years, Bill played high school football. He and Iris enjoyed traveling and spending time at their winter home in St. Augustine, Florida, for several years. Being born and raised in Tennessee, Bill loved to cook Southern style meals for his family. He also enjoyed staying active and physically fit by going to the gym several times a week.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all.

Most of all, Bill had a servant’s heart and was a Pastor to many throughout his life.  His strong faith in the Lord and eagerness to share the gospel was a blessing to many. Each morning, Bill awoke at 5:30 am to spend a couple of hours in prayer for his family, his church and his country.

In his memory, donations may be given to Apostolic Temple in South Bend where he and Iris attended faithfully.  To light a virtual candle, share a story of his life, or leave a message of comfort for Bill’s family, please visit www.CruzFamilyFH.com.
